Reading List 1

January 25, 2019

Each Friday we will publish a list of 10 papers that we have seen over the past week that have sparked our interest. They may be new or they may be oldies-but-goodies. They may be published in journals, or preprints on arXiv or bioRXiv. They may be blog posts or GitHub code repositories.

Here is this week’s list:

  4. Hardwick, R.M., Forrence, A.D., Krakauer, J.W., and Haith, A.M. (2018). Time-dependent competition between habitual and goal-directed response preparation. bioRxiv, 201095.

  5. Hoffman, B.U., Baba, Y., Griffith, T.N., Mosharov, E.V., Woo, S.-H., Roybal, D.D., Karsenty, G., Patapoutian, A., Sulzer, D., and Lumpkin, E.A. (2018). Merkel Cells Activate Sensory Neural Pathways through Adrenergic Synapses. Neuron 100, 1401–1413.e6.
Norepinephrine is the Merkel cell neurotransmitter and adrenergic receptors are required to generate the classic slowly-adapting type I response.

  6. McDougle, S.D., and Taylor, J.A. (2019). Dissociable cognitive strategies for sensorimotor learning. Nat. Commun. 10, 40.

  7. Mhatre, N., Sivalinghem, S., and Mason, A.C. (2018). Posture controls mechanical tuning in the black widow spider mechanosensory system. bioRxiv, 484238.

Please keep in mind that the appearance of a paper on our reading list should not necessarily be considered an endorsement of the work unless of course we explicitly endorse it, for example in a blurb. These are just papers that have caught our attention this week. As always, please read papers with a critical eye.
